We know it and we shall tell you how? THE INDUCTOR

We all know about the three basic requirements in electrical engineering. They are the Resistor, the Capacitor and the Inductor. So today i would let you know something about the INDUCTOR.
Lets start with a simple circuit diagram to show you how it works.

What you see here is a battery, a light bulb, a coil of wire around a piece of iron (yellow) and a switch. The coil of wire is an inductor. This iron rod wound with a coil is called an electromagnet (to know what an electromagnet is refer to our electromagnets).
If for suppose there is no inductor in this circuit, then you can find that when electricity is passed through this circuit, you can see  that the bulb glows but with a dim light. On the other hand when you connect a inductor the same bulb glows with bright light.
Now the first question which comes to your mind is what is actually an inductor ? The answer to put in simple words an inductor is a device to store energy most preferably  the electrical energy. The second question which comes to your mind is what is the difference between the inductor and the battery? Well the battery is a device which stores d.c current where an inductor too stores the current but in the form of a magnetic field.
So this is how an inductor works but remember that what 's given here is just a basic and you need to know something more if you wish too. In the common usage, an inductor is nothing but a choke in a vehicle.
